Police Shoot, Kill Man Armed With Knife In Everett

EVERETT (CBS) – A police officer shot and killed a knife-wielding man in Everett Thursday afternoon.

Police say they responded to Chelsea Street at about 4:30 p.m. for a report of a man who was harassing pedestrians.

The man, who has not been identified, allegedly pulled out a knife when an officer approached him.

Witnesses say the officer shot the man after he refused to drop the knife and "continued to advance on the officer."

He was transported to Mass. General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The officer was not injured and has been place on Administrative Leave while the shooting is investigated.
