Obama Nominates Former MBTA Head Beverly Scott To NTSB

BOSTON (CBS) – President Obama has nominated Beverly Scott, the controversial former head of the MBTA to a key administrative position.

The White House announced on Thursday that Scott was nominated as a member of the National Transportation Safety Board.

Scott resigned in April from her position as MBTA General Manager after the organization struggled to keep up with snowfall throughout the winter.

"I am confident that these experienced and hardworking individuals will help us tackle the important challenges facing America, and I am grateful for their service.  I look forward to working with them," Obama said in the Thursday announcement.

NTSB board members are paid $155,000 annually, according to the Boston Herald. The Senate will be tasked with approving Scott and other of Obama's nominees for five-year terms.
