Lynn Baseball Team Gives Adults With Special Needs Employment Opportunities

LYNN (CBS) – While players from the Lynn-based baseball team North Shore Navigators are hard at work on the diamond, another group of team employees are hard at work in the stands.

For several years the Navigators front office has partnered with Bridgewell, paying special needs adults $10 an hour every home game to help clean Fraser Field.

"They're here because they get the job done. I can't emphasize that enough," Navigators General Manager Bill Terlecky told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens. "They're not here because they're disabled or they're mentally challenged. They're here because they do a great job."

Bridgewell is a non-profit organization that provides residential services and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Ariana Morel is among the Bridgewell employees who work during Navigators home games.

"I clean up garbage and people treat me good," said Morel.
