North Attleboro Guidance Counselor Arraigned On Rape Charges

NORTH ATTLEBORO (CBS) -- A North Attleboro middle school guidance counselor was arraigned on statutory rape charges Tuesday.

Brian McBride, 31, is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student over several months.

The teen's father confronted McBride in court yelling "Look at me! look at me!" at him during McBride's arraignment, but McBride never looked at the man.

Investigators said the incidents occurred at the middle school and in McBride's house and car.

The prosecutor said McBride told officers he was having marital problems, and he knew it was wrong, but the 14-year-old was giving him a lot of attention.

McBride lives with his wife and 16-month-old in Attleboro.

McBride started as a counselor this year before that, he taught chorus at the school. For years, he has also given private voice lessons, including at his house.

He is also accused of sending sexual texts and a video to another young student.

The North Attleboro school system has fired McBride.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was ordered held on $30,000 bail.
