Midnight-7 a.m. Friday:

The final push of this nor'easter - the "backlash."

Precipitation will pick up again after midnight, initially with rain in eastern sections, but it will change back to snow as the winds veer more northerly.

There may be an additional 1-to-3 inches of snow in parts of Worcester County or perhaps as far east as the Merrimack Valley.

Closer to the coast, including the Boston area, expect just a dusting to an inch at the tail end of this final burst.

The most significant backlash will actually occur much farther north and west in the Monadnock Region, the Berkshires and up in ski country. An additional 3-to-6 inches+ will fall later tonight in these elevated locations.

ACCUMULATION

Final snow totals:

What you see is what you get in southeastern Massachusetts.  In fact, much of what you see now will be gone by morning with more rain on the way.

Right at Logan Airport I would expect 2-to-3 inches.  However, just a few miles west in downtown Boston and in the suburbs, 3-to-6 inches of snow will be on the ground, all by 4-5 p.m.

Outside of 128, through 495 and for most of the region north and west of Boston, 6-to-10 inches of new snow will be on the ground when all is said and done.

The jackpot will be in the elevated areas of western Massachusetts, and into central New England, 10-to-16 inches or more up there.

So what's next?

A mild Valentine's Day, 36-to-42 degrees, so some immediate melting will help the cleanup effort.

And then, well, viewer discretion advised, more snow is likely Saturday afternoon and night.  There could be 3-to-6 inches in southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod.

*IF* the storm comes just a little bit closer, look out, this one could be another sizeable snowstorm.
