NightSide - To Save Or Not To Save?

BOSTON (CBS) - We've had our first significant snowfall of the year, so of course the annual debate over space savers has once again escalated around the Boston community. Space savers have been a Boston area tradition for years. The idea is that if someone goes through the trouble of shoveling out a space, they should be able to use that space for at least a day or two. But the exact rules on when space savers can be used and how long they can remain in place change from neighborhood to neighborhood. This has at times led to confrontations and sometimes vehicle or property damage, but yesterday it escalated even further when a man was shot in Dorchester over a parking space dispute. Do you think we should still allow space savers in the first couple of days after a major storm? Or is it time to retire this tradition and go back to a free-for-all approach?
