NightSide - Ray Mariano's Housing Proposal

BOSTON (CBS) - Worcester Housing Authority Executive Director Ray Mariano developed a program for public housing residents in Worcester entitled, "A Better Life." The program would require able-bodied public housing residents to try to find a job or go to school in order to improve their lives and maintain their public housing residence. The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) originally approved the plan, yet when Worcester announced the changes, HUD pulled the rug out from underneath the program and rescinded their approval. Mariano joins NightSide to talk about this blow to the proposed reform.

Originally broadcast September 25th, 2014.
