BOSTON (CBS) - There has been a long running argument over whether the healthcare system should be a profit-based industry. Some claim that by encouraging capitalism in healthcare, decisions are not always made in the patients' best interest. But, according to American Enterprise Institute scholar Dr. Tom Stossel, capitalism is exactly what spurs innovation in the medical world. Stossel joins Dan in studio to talk about why he believes those trying to remove the profit-based model from healthcare are actually stifling innovation. Should hospitals, insurance companies, and medical suppliers base their decisions on profit margins? Or should the needs of the patient come first?
