BOSTON (CBS) - Any time we talk about improving our education system, it seems that every politician or public official within earshot has a whole lot to say about the matter. But what about the teachers themselves? Strangely enough, we rarely hear from teachers directly when it comes to brainstorming ideas to improve our public education system. D.A. Russell, a longtime teacher and author of Lifting The Curtain, sits down with Dan to talk about the real problems in our public schools, and why teachers are afraid or unable to speak up and call attention to the problems that need fixing. Are our teachers being bullied into silence and compliance by the powerful forces around them? How can we affect real, meaningful changes to our education system?
