NightSide - Can Feminism And Islam Coexist?

BOSTON (CBS) - Asra Nomani moved from India to the United States when she was four years old. A former Wall Street Journal reporter for fifteen years, Nomani is now an author, journalism professor, and activist for women's rights, specifically in the Muslim world. A Muslim herself, Nomani has taken some harsh criticism for her brutal honesty when talking about her religion, extremism, and the treatment of women. Recently, after a Muslim student organization filed a complaint, a talk she was scheduled to give at Duke University was cancelled. Nomani was later re-invited when she simply asked for proof that she was, in fact, in line with Islamophobic speakers as the student group contended. Nomani talks with Dan about her experiences as a critic of her own religion and how she has been received. Tune in to hear her perspective.
