NH Police Find SUV That Struck Trooper, Develop 'Person Of Interest'
MERRIMACK, N.H. (CBS) -- New Hampshire State Police say they have developed a "person of interest" and found an SUV that struck a trooper during an early Sunday morning traffic stop in Merrimack.
Trooper Ryan Hickey was assisting another trooper with the traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. on the F.E. Everett Turnpike near Exit 10, according to a news statement released Monday morning.
Hickey had put three people in his cruiser when he was hit near the cruiser's driver's side door by the SUV traveling south. The other trooper was able to identify the SUV as an older, light-colored model and help Hickey at the scene.
Hickey, who has spent a year working for N.H. State Police, was taken to a local hospital after suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The former two-year Derry, N.H. police officer remains hospitalized.
In less than a day, investigators say they were able to track down the SUV and have taken it into their possession.
As of late Monday morning, no arrests had been but police do have a person of interest. No additional information about the person was released by investigators.
