NH Man's Car Reported Stolen, Found Buried Under Snow

EPPING, N.H. (CBS) – Mother Nature is the top suspect in the case of a missing New Hampshire car.

Truck driver Patrick Phillips left his Lincoln Town Car in an Epping, N.H., parking lot when he hit the road for several weeks of work.

Phillips left before the recent barrage of snow rolled into New England.

Friends were tasked with checking on the car while Phillips was out of town, but they were unable to find it and called police to report it stolen.

Epping Police Captain Jason Newman said the car was eventually located – underneath three feet of snow that had fallen since Phillips left and more that had been dumped on it by plows.

"He hasn't done anything wrong," said Newman. "He's using the parking lot for what it's there for. Unfortunately he just hasn't been able to have it moved or move it since he's working. And while he's been working is when we've been getting slammed with these storms. Unfortunately, that's what happened to him."
