NH Man Injured In Paraglider Crash

CANDIA, N.H. (CBS) -- A New Hampshire man ended up in the hospital after crashing his paraglider into a tree in his own backyard.

Police responded to the Deerfield Road home shortly after 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

"He was circling around his property and his grandkids were on the back porch watching," Candia police chief Michael McGillen told WBZ-TV.

The man told police his glider lost power, causing him to fall about 30 feet. He was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"He's very fortunate to have it happen here and not be up higher, at a higher elevation," McGillen said. "The trees did help break his fall."

McGillen said they're investigating whether it was legal for the man to have the glider.
