NH Hunter Rescued After Becoming Stuck In Swamp For Two Hours

HUDSON, N.H. (CBS) – New Hampshire police and firefighters rescued a hunter Saturday morning after he was stuck waist-deep in a swamp for about two hours.

Hudson, N.H., police and fire departments were called at about 8:50 a.m. to the area of Kimball Hill Road when a caller reported the stuck hunter.

New Hampshire State Police sent an aircraft to the area, and found the area the hunter was stuck.

The caller led police and firefighters to the swamp where they found Michael Deloria of Nashua, N.H., about a half mile into the woods.

After about an hour, firefighters were able to rescue Deloria. He was treated on scene by paramedics but declined being transported to an area hospital.

Hudson police said the cold temperatures made it an urgent situation for rescuing Deloria from the mud.

"The Hudson Police and Fire Departments recommend that anyone going into the woods; should dress appropriately for the activity they are engaging in, carry a cell phone that is fully charged, and know the area they are in," Hudson rescue officials said.
