NH Ed. Center Teaching Old-Fashioned Maple Syrup Making
LACONIA, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire environmental education center in Laconia is kicking off its Maple Sugar Madness program to teach old-fashioned maple syrup making to children and adults.
The Saturday sessions at the Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center feature all facets of the maple sugaring process — from identifying and tapping trees to the process of distilling sap into syrup.
The two-hour sessions are offered at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $7 for children ages 4-12. Members pay a reduced rate. Reservations are required.
Maple sugaring season typically begins in late February, when the trees are tapped.
