Iconic Newport Cliff Walk To Remain Closed 'Well Past' Busy Summer Season After Collapse

NEWPORT, R.I. (CBS) – Rhode Island officials now say the collapsed section of the iconic Cliff Walk in Newport will remain closed well past the busy summer season.

A 20-foot section fell into the ocean earlier this month.

The Boston Globe reported that an engineering firm went to look at the damage this week.

The city said it is still too early to know what a repair would look like, but officials are asking the state congressional delegation to help find funds.
