New Study Ranks Boston #3 Among Walkable Cities

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston is one of the best cities in the country for walking, according to a report released this week.

The Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis at George Washington University School of Business in conjunction with Smart Growth America ranked the 30 largest U.S. cities by walkability.

Boston ranked behind only New York City and Washington, D.C.

Researchers calculated walkability by focusing on locations of large retail and office spaces.

While Boston ranked third, the study's authors pointed to growth in Cambridge and Somerville as likelihood that the city could move up the list in coming years.
