New Natural Gas Pipeline Planned Between Pennsylvania And New England

BOSTON (CBS) - Kinder Morgan of Texas will announe a $5 billion plan on Monday to build a 425 mile pipeline from Pennsylvania shale fields to Dracut, Massachusetts, to bring much needed natural gas into New England.

Allen Fore at Kinder Morgan says natural gas prices in New England are the highest in the country.

Fore says the pipeline would run west to east across the state, running from Hancock to Northfield, into New Hampshire, and then back into Dracut, creating 3,000 temporary construction jobs and generating $25 million in tax revenue.

The filing is just the first chapter. Approvals will take more than a year, and it wouldn't be turned on until 2018.
