New Mass. Law: Turn On Headlights When Using Wipers

BOSTON (CBS) -- There's a new Massachusetts law governing when drivers need to turn on their headlights.

Starting Tuesday, motorists will have to use their headlights "when the vehicle's windshield wipers are needed."

Additionally, headlights need to be activated for a half hour before sunrise and sunset, or when visibility is under 500 feet.

The Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents is trying to get the word out to drivers that failing to comply with the law could result in a ticket and insurance surcharge.
