Beverly Man Dies While Hiking On New Hampshire Trail

FRANCONIA, N.H. (CBS) – A Beverly man died Saturday morning after collapsing on a New Hampshire hiking trail.

It happened around 8 a.m. on the Lonesome Lake Trail in Franconia.

The 53-year-old man and a hiking partner were about one mile from the trailhead. The man's hiking partner immediately called for help and began performing CPR.

Two EMTs happened to be in the area and took over rescue efforts, but the man did not survive.

New Hampshire Fish and Game did not release the hiker's name.
