Patriots Part Ways With Veteran Defensive Lineman Terrance Knighton
BOSTON (CBS) -- It's the end of the road for Terrance Knighton in a New England Patriots uniform.
The Pats signed the seven-year veteran over the offseason and he figured to be a key cog along the New England defensive line. But after Knighton didn't play in the team's third preseason game on Friday night in Charlotte, his brief tenure in New England is over.
Knighton sent out the following Tweets early Monday morning:
Well it's been real New England. The road continues

Great respect for Robert Kraft and bill Belichick. Learned some things from my time here.

"It just didn't work out," Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said Monday. "He came in, worked hard, lost weight, got in good condition. He tried to do the things we asked him to do, just other people ahead of him"
The 30-year-old expressed disappointment after not playing in Friday night's win over the Panthers, and sounded as though he expected Monday's move.
Knighton, a Hartford, Connecticut native, was a third-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2009, and has suited up for the Jags, Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins over his seven-year career in the NFL.
