New England Aquarium Offers Paintings Made By Seals

BOSTON (AP) — An original Matisse or Rembrandt may be worth millions, but the New England Aquarium is hoping visitors prefer an original painting by another kind of artist: seals.

The aquarium is offering a "Paint With the Seals" experience for visitors to watch as an Atlantic harbor seal paints a custom piece of art using a specially adapted brush and flicks of its head or flipper.

Visitors will stand beside a trainer while a seal uses three paint colors to create an original painting.

The animal encounter is offered Mondays and Saturdays at 11 a.m. The cost is $150 per person for a large painting plus aquarium admission, or $135 for members. Small paintings cost $100 plus admission, or $90 for members. The experience is for children ages 9 and older.
