Neely On Felger & Mazz: Bruins Having 'Ongoing Discussions' With Loui Eriksson On Contract Extension

By Matt Dolloff, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- Bruins president Cam Neely is a busy man this time of year. He's been working so much he hasn't even had time to call Felger & Mazz. But he called in on Thursday, the last time the show speaks to Neely before Monday's trade deadline.

On the topic of Loui Eriksson, Neely confirmed that the team and Eriksson are still negotiating a contract extension, and the Bruins recently sent their latest offer.

"There have been recent discussions," Neely said of Eriksson. "[GM] Don [Sweeney] sent something [Eriksson's] way; we haven't gotten a response yet, but there have been ongoing discussions."

When asked if he is also taking trade calls on Eriksson, Neely could not get into specifics but confirmed that they are actively shopping for deals, but not necessarily for Eriksson.

"I know Don's talking to teams about a number of different things," said Neely. "Not specifically Loui, but just, 'How are we going to improve our club today and tomorrow?'"

Neely also disputed the idea that the Bruins are in a "rebuilding" period and commented on the continued improvement of 19-year-old David Pastrnak. Listen to the full interview below.
