NBC To Pull Boston Affiliation With WHDH Channel 7

BOSTON (CBS) -- There's a big media shake-up happening in Boston.

NBC has announced it will pull its affiliation with WHDH channel 7. WHDH has been an NBC affiliate for 20 years.

The network will begin a new station, NBC Boston, on January 1, 2017. The new NBC station will air on channel 60, which currently airs Telemundo.

This means NBC programming will no longer air on Channel 7.

Sunbeam television, the owner of WHDH, says it will fight the move in court.

"We're going to contest what they're doing because they are violating an agreement that was signed in 2010 by Comcast and NBC Universal and NBC affiliates," station owner Ed Ansin said in an interview with WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
