Navy Serviceman Surprises Sister On Her Graduation Day

LOWELL (CBS) -- It was a graduation day that one UMass Lowell student will never forget.

Class of 2015 senior Rachael Nall of Medford got a special surprise during the school's commencement ceremony Saturday morning. As a speaker paid tribute to any military troops in attendance, she also revealed that Nall's brother, Chris Nall, had just returned from active duty in the Navy to wish his sister well.

"Rachael Nall, could you please stand so your brother Chris can congratulate you on your graduation?" Vice Chancellor Jacqueline Moloney said.

A teary but smiling Nall gave her brother a hug as students gave a standing ovation to the siblings.

UMass Lowell said it has more than 1,500 student-veterans, the most among public colleges in the state.
