Want To Be An Astronaut? NASA Is Hiring

WASHINGTON (CBS) -- If you've ever dreamed of growing up to be an astronaut, here's your chance.

NASA has announced it will soon be accepting applications for the next generation of astronauts as the agency prepares for the return of human spaceflight and a possible mission to Mars.

Applications will be accepted from Dec. 14 until mid-February at www.usajobs.gov, and NASA should announce the selected candidates sometime in 2017.

Currently, NASA employs 47 astronauts.

Some of the requirements for the job include a bachelor's degree in engineering, biological science, physical science or math. Candidates need to pass NASA's long-duration spaceflight physical. They also have to be between 62 inches and 75 inches tall.
