Narragansett Beer Returning Brewery Operations To Rhode Island

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (CBS) – For the first time in more than 30 years, Narragansett Beer will be brewed in Rhode Island.

The company announced that next week the offices for Narragansett will move from Providence to a facility called The Guild in Pawtucket.

Narragansett plans to begin brewing at the new facility in early fall, though the company said it may be closer to the end of the year before the brewery is open to the public.

The company currently brews its beers in Rochester, N.Y.

Mark Hellendrung, the president of Narragansett Beer, said several months will be spent in Pawtucket building and installing the brew house before the facility is up and running.

Narragansett beers have not been brewed in Rhode Island since 1983.

"We can't thank you enough for all that you've done to get us here," Narragansett said in a Facebook post. "It's been a long road - longer than expected, but we would have never done it without you. Can't wait to have you by for a beer, Rhode Island!"
