N.H. Police: Officers Chase Thieves Stealing Big-Screen TV Into Woods

HUDSON, N.H. (AP) — A man accused of trying to steal a TV from a New Hampshire Walmart has been arrested in nearby woods.

Hudson police say they responded to the Walmart on Saturday afternoon on a report of two people who tried to swipe a large-screen TV. They say the theft suspects took off through the back of the store's parking lot into a wooded area.

Police say they tried to find the two suspects and started investigating. They say moments later they chased and caught Nashua resident Harold Sherman.

Sherman has been charged with theft by unauthorized taking and resisting arrest. Police say he couldn't make his $1,500 bail. He's in jail and can't be reached for comment by telephone. An arraignment is scheduled for Monday.

Police say the investigation of the second suspect is ongoing.
