Jose Vasquez Ardon and Cristian Nunez-Flores, both 17-year-olds from Everett, appeared in Malden District Court after each were charged with murder. They are accused of killing Omar Wilfredo Reyes.

A judge also ordered the pair not to have contact with Reyes' family or witnesses in the case.

Ardon was arrested in Revere and Nunez-Flores in Malden, respectively, on Saturday. They allegedly lured Reyes out of his home before killing him, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Ardon allegedly texted Reyes several times, asking to meet up with him, according to a statement released Monday by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. Reyes told a friend he had reservations about the meeting but went anyway, prosecutors say.

Police received a call about an injured man found under the Tileston Street Bridge near Carter Street shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 3. Investigators believe Reyes was shot in the head around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 2.

He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 2 p.m. on Jan. 4.

The suspects were allegedly seen on surveillance video walking toward the bike path with Reyes, and then later leaving without him.

Authorities recovered and performed DNA testing on clothing worn by the suspects, according to the statement.

Investigators believe they have evidence that links Ardon and Nunez-Flores to MS-13.

They are scheduled to appear in court again on March 1.
