Mother Of 4 Graduates From Law School
BOSTON (CBS) - Settling arguments between her four children is something that Amanda Bourell is good at and she doesn't even need a law degree.
But if she did, she'd be set.
She just graduated from New England Law.
Bourell said she wanted to be home with her kids, but she also wanted to lay the groundwork for when she went back to work.
"When my youngest was about two, I just decided I wanted to make a plan when they got a little bit older," she told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
Bourell is one of a growing number of students taking advantage of flexible or part-time schedules, as they try to balance their present lives with their futures.
"You really do learn to get through the minutiae and pull out what's necessary and I think I developed that skill quicker being a little bit older, being a mom," she said.
Bourell encourages anyone who wants to do something different in their lives to go for it.
She said it was difficult but she learned a great deal and earned the respect of her fellow students, most of them younger than her.
"They comment all the time to me, 'You did more before I got up this morning than I'll do all day,' but, yet, this is life and this is my day."
