Fugitive Wanted For 1994 Cambridge Stabbing Arrested In Jamaica

BOSTON (CBS) – A Massachusetts fugitive accused of violently assaulting his ex-girlfriend more than 20 years ago was returned to the United States after he was arrested in Jamaica.

Arnold Gabbidon, who was listed on the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted fugitives list, was accused of stabbing and slashing his ex-girlfriend in 1994 in Cambridge before fleeing the country.

He was arrested on Aug. 3 in Jamaica and on Wednesday night Gabbidon was returned to Massachusetts.

Gabbidon will be arraigned in Middlesex County on charges of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, mayhem, threats to commit a crime, armed burglary, stalking and malicious destruction of property.

Police say that on January 14, 1994, Gabbidon broke down his ex-girlfriend's door and attacked her.

Gabbidon had allegedly been stalking the woman in advance of the attack.

The woman was able to call Cambridge Police following the incident. She survived her injuries.

After fleeing the country, Gabbidon was living with a relative in Clarendon, Jamaica, until he was arrested in August.
