MMA Fighter Arrested Before Scheduled Fight In R.I.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police say a mixed martial arts fighter charged with felony assault in his state of Ohio has been arrested in Rhode Island as he was preparing to take on an opponent at Twin River Casino.

Col. Steven O'Donnell, the Rhode Island state police chief, said Saturday that Josue Killion was detained Friday as a fugitive from justice after the Defiance County Sheriff's Office said he was wanted for felony assault.

Killion is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Third Division District Court in Warwick.

It was not immediately possible to reach Killion at the Adult Correctional Institute Intake Service Center. It was not immediately clear if the Findlay, Ohio, resident has legal representation.
