BOSTON (CBS) – Dave Dombrowski has been a busy man.

After adding depth to the team's lineup with trades for Aaron Hill and Michael Martinez, the Red Sox president of baseball operations pulled off another deal following Friday night's game.

Boston traded minor leaguers Jose Almonte and Lyis Alejandro Basabe to Arizona in exchange for Diamondbacks closer Brad Ziegler.

Following Boston's win Friday at Fenway Park, manager John Farrell told reporters that closer Craig Kimbrel felt discomfort in his knee while shagging fly balls during batting practice.

Kimbrel, who was scheduled to pitch in Tuesday's All-Star game in San Diego, was sent for an MRI.

In addition, Farrell said reliever Junichi Tazawa is dealing with issues in his shoulder.

So the Red Sox turned to Ziegler, who has a 2-3 record and an ERA of 2.82 this season in 36 relief appearances.

Ziegler has converted 18 out of 20 save opportunities this year.
