Misspelled 'Cars Olny' Sign Coming Down After Two Days On Soldiers Field Road

BOSTON (CBS) - A sign that was installed Wednesday afternoon on Soldiers Field Road in Boston was set to be taken down just two days later.

The reason: the two-word, eight-letter sign contained a spelling error.

That error was noticed on Friday by 98.5 The Sports Hub's Rich Shertenlieb of Toucher & Rich, who tweeted out a photo of the sign on Soldiers Field Road near Leo Birmingham Parkway.

The sign read "CARS OLNY."

DCR Spokesperson William Hickey said officials had been informed of the mistake, which was blamed on a contractor.

"We are aware of it and have alerted our contractors of that mistake so that it can be corrected," he said in a statement.

Hickey indicated that the contractors who hung the sign were expected to replace it around 4 p.m. on Friday.
