Friends Searching For Missing BU Student In New York

BOSTON (CBS) -- Friends are searching for a Boston University student who went missing in New York a week ago.

Zachery Camhi was last seen at the W Hotel in New York City last Sunday, September 18.

He is described as being about 5'8" and 160 lbs. with dark hair and brown eyes.

The 25-year-old grad student was in the city to pick up an instrument. He was not carrying a wallet or phone.

"He said that he needed to get into the hotel room so he could go to the bathroom, which, it seems, was just his way of getting away from the person who was taking care of him," one of Camhi's friends said.

He is a musician who has a history of mental illness. A missing poster shared by Boston University said he needs medication.

Camhi's friends have started a social media campaign, including a Facebook page called Find Zachery Camhi, to help spread the word and hopefully find him. They are searching Midtown Manhattan.

They say they'll stay in New York City for the next few days to continue their search.
