Owner Rallies To Save Mini Horse Shot In Acushnet

ACUSHNET (CBS) --  Max the mini horse is recovering after he was apparently shot in both legs.

Max was on his owner's property when he was struck by a bullet. Now Max is unable to move without the help of painkillers, and one leg is unlikely to heal.

Owner Julie Nightlinger, called the incident "an act of animal abuse."

"He does need weeks of intensive care (at an animal hospital) and a prosthetic leg," Nightlinger posted online.

Nightlinger has started a GoFundMe page to raise money for Max's veterinary care.

Police are investigating the shooting.
