MIAA Warns High School Athletes About 'Underground Wrestling Club' Recruiting On Facebook

BOSTON (CBS) - The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association is warning high school athletes about an underground fight club.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports

The MIAA says a person who calls himself "Manny Whelan" has been sending out Facebook messages to teens, offering them money to take part in an "underground wrestling club" held in local hotels.

"It has come to our attention that this person has been contacting local male student-athletes for at least two years. This may not be exclusive to wrestling, so please inform ALL of your coaches, parents, and students," the MIAA said in a statement.

Anyone with information should call the Massachusetts Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at 978-451-3550.
