MENDON (CBS) -- The passenger in a car that collided head-on with a school bus Wednesday has died.

The Worcester District Attorney's office said Cheryl Drainville, 57, of Bellingham, passed away Thursday from injuries she suffered in the crash.

The driver of the black Hyundai sedan, 33-year old Richard Drainville of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, is still in the hospital.

He had to be cut from the car and was rushed to the hospital in a medical rescue helicopter.

Neighbors said the intersection of Bates Road and Route 140 where the crash happened around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday can be a difficult one.

Investigators believe Drainville's car accelerated into the path of the bus, but weren't yet sure why.

The children on the bus, ages 6-8, were on their way to a YMCA camp. None were hurt.
