10-Week-Old Boy Dies After Being Found Unresponsive At Mendon Daycare

MENDON (CBS) – Police are investigating the death of a 10-week-old boy at a Mendon daycare, though foul play is not currently suspected.

The baby was being watched at the Bethany Church Day Care Center on Cape Road around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police said the boy's mother came to pick him up and he was unresponsive.

The child was rushed to Milford Regional Medical Center, but pronounced dead.

The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of the baby's death.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), Bethany Church was not licensed with the state to care for infants.

In 1996 the facility was granted a license exemption to care for preschool-aged children as a part of their K-12 program.

The department is investigating the boy's death.

One neighbor said the school has a good reputation, and another woman leaving the parking lot called the incident "a tragedy."
