Men Arrested For Series Of Stun Gun Robberies In New Bedford Area

NEW BEDFORD (CBS) – Two men accused of holding up several businesses in New Bedford and surrounding cities with a stun gun have been arrested.

Rashaun Baheem Burgess and his alleged lookout, Carlos Martinez, appeared in court Tuesday morning.

They are charged with holding up several businesses with a pink stun gun.

Police say they conducted surveillance of the suspects' vehicle and arrested the pair after they parked behind a Cumberland Farms in Wareham.

"Detectives feel they were in the process of committing an armed robbery at the store and decided to converge on the suspects," New Bedford Police said.

One of the suspects was wearing clothing matching the previous robberies and a pink stun gun was located in the vehicle.

Similar robberies have been reported in Fall River, Taunton and Fairhaven. Police anticipate more charges to be filed.
