Members Of Mass. Emergency Crew Respond To California Wildfire

Five members of the Massachusetts Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team shadowed response to the Willow Wildfire near Bass Lake in California, north of Fresno.

The organization, based in Beverly, responds to major disasters to provide emergency response.

Team leader Guy Nebery told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens that it was helpful to learn from crews in California who "get a lot of practice" coordinating these scenarios.

"The same management principals apply whether it's tornadoes, earthquakes or other large scale events. We use the same kind of concepts to organize and manage that event," said Nebery.
