Melrose Man Arrested For Alleged Carjacking In Revere

REVERE (CBS) – A Melrose man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old boy in Revere earlier this month.

Police say 32-year-old Robert Consolo was arrested in East Boston on Tuesday on an unrelated matter.

On the morning of August 1, the teen was sitting in his mother's car at the Northgate Shopping Center when two men who had been arguing with a cab driver about a fare jumped in and took off.

The teen says the men took him on a wild ride, reaching speeds of 80 mph. They eventually got out of the car when they spotted a police officer in Melrose.

SWAT teams searched door to door that afternoon looking for two men but could not locate them.

Consolo is facing charges of kidnapping, larceny of a motor vehicle and fare evasion.

The second suspect has not been arrested.
