Red Line Delayed Monday Night After Smoke Fills Broadway Station

BOSTON (CBS) – There were delays on the MBTA Red Line Monday night after a mechanical problem on a train caused smoke to fill Broadway Station in South Boston.

The Red Line was shut down between JFK and Park Street stations. Shuttle buses temporarily replaced Red Line service in both directions.

Service resumed late Monday night and was expected to be back on track Tuesday morning.

There's no word yet on what caused the mechanical problem.
