MBTA Bus Driver Suspended After Video Shows Fight With Passenger

BOSTON (CBS) -- An MBTA bus driver is off the job after video captured her fighting with a passenger who appeared to throw a drink at her.

The video posted to the "WorldStar Fights" Facebook page shows a woman exiting the bus, but not before throwing a drink at the bus driver. The bus driver then follows the woman off the bus and apparently attacks her.

A spokesman for the MBTA said the woman was upset because the bus driver asked her to pay the fare.

The bus driver, who has been with the MBTA for almost 13 years, is suspended while the MBTA investigates. Transit police are also trying to identify the woman who threw the drink.

"While it's very clear that the passenger was the instigator, it's incumbent upon the bus operator to demonstrate restraint and allow police to handle such a matter," the MBTA said. "Two wrongs do not make a right."
