Mayor Walsh To Lead Moment Of Silence On 'One Boston Day'

BOSTON (CBS) – A moment of silence will be held in the city to mark the two-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is encouraging residents and those outside the city to participate in the moment of silence on Wednesday, April 15, at 2:49 p.m.

Church bells will ring throughout the city to mark the somber anniversary.

The moment of silence will be a part of "One Boston Day," which Walsh announced will be held annually on April 15 in the city. Walsh said during that day, residents are encouraged to participate in random acts of kindness.

On Wednesday morning, Walsh will help raise banners on Boylston Street for One Boston Day to honor the victims and survivors of the April 2013 bombings.

During One Boston Day, participants are encouraged to share how they are marking the day by using the hashtag #OneBostonDay.
