May Day...

April is now gone and left a sour taste in our mouths but May has arrived and with the new month comes a new weather pattern...one that's a little sweeter.  The last 24 hours have been wet with most picking up around 1 inch of rain and some places more than that. The lift associated with a warm front has shifted east and the downpours pretty much have too.  As the warm front works through, winds will pick up from the SW and draw in some drier air and sunny breaks and brightening will develop.  While many are craving some sunshine it may actually work against us this afternoon.  The atmosphere will still be unstable enough for pop-up showers and if we add some sunshine to the mix a few run of the mill thunderstorms will be possible too.

Provided we get some sun the airmass will have some juice for isolated showers and storms this afternoon.
Breaks are starting to emerge in New York State now.
