Boston Police Officer Shoots At Man Who Points Gun At Him

BOSTON (CBS) – There was a massive search in Dorchester overnight after a police officer shot at a man who pointed a gun at him.

It happened just after 11 p.m. Sunday outside the Lee Elementary School.

Boston police say an unidentified man pointed a gun at an officer, then ran off without firing.

The police officer fired 2 or 3 times.

Investigators do not believe anyone was hit.

They said they found the gun, but not the man.

Police said they have good information on him.

The incident sparked an intense search of the neighborhood that involved K-9's and a State Police helicopter.

Boston Police searched the area near the Lee Elementary School early Monday morning. (WBZ-TV)

Police have not yet released a description of the man.

No other details are available at this point in the investigation.
