MassDOT Warns E-ZPass Customers About Potential Email Phishing Scam

BOSTON (CBS) – MassDOT is warning E-ZPass customers to beware of an email that is likely a phishing scam targeting  users of the toll transponder program.

According to the state transportation agency, some E-ZPass customers in Massachusetts and other states have received an e-mail from "E-ZPass Customer Service Center" with the subject, "Payment for driving on toll road."

MassDOT stresses the email is not from E-ZPass and is likely a phishing scam. It advises customers who receive the email not to open it or respond to the message.

Customers with questions about the validity of any message from E-ZPass should contact the E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 877-627-7745. They can also check their E-ZPass account online.
