Panel To Vote On Third Judge For Highest Mass. Court

BOSTON (AP) — The Governor's Council is expected to vote this week on the third of three judges nominated to the highest court in Massachusetts by Republican Gov. Charlie Baker.

The council has already confirmed two Superior Court judges — David Lowy and Frank Gaziano — to fill seats on the Supreme Judicial Court.

A vote on the confirmation of Kimberly Budd is expected Wednesday. Budd, also a Superior Court judge, is a former federal prosecutor and the daughter of Wayne Budd, the former U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts.

The retirements this summer of SJC justices Robert Cordy, Fernande Duffly and Francis Spina provided Baker with a unique opportunity to reshape the seven-member court.
