Massachusetts Members Of Congress To Serve On Key Committees

BOSTON (AP) — Members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation have been named to serve as the top Democrats on key U.S. House committees.

Rep. Jim McGovern of Worcester has been appointed the ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Agriculture's Subcommittee on Nutrition, which oversees in part the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.

Rep. Stephen Lynch of Boston was named the top Democrat on the Subcommittee on National Security, which has oversight over the Defense and State departments and the nation's intelligence operations.

Rep. Niki Tsongas of Lowell has been named the ranking Democrat on the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Federal Lands, which is responsible for oversight of the national park system, U.S. forests, public lands and national monuments.
